What is the best time to visit the Maldives?

The dry season (November to April) is ideal, with calm seas and sunny weather. Monsoon season (May to October) brings occasional rain but fewer tourists and lower prices.

Most nationalities receive a free 30-day tourist visa on arrival. Check with your local immigration office for specific requirements. We assist with all visa-related queries.

What is included in a Sun Chaser Travels package?

Our packages include accommodation (guesthouse or resort), airport transfers, selected meals, excursions, and 24/7 support. Exact inclusions vary by package type.

How do I get to my island?

After arriving at Malé International Airport, we arrange your transfer via speedboat or domestic flight depending on distance and your preferences. Journey times range from 30 minutes to 2 hours.

What activities are available?

Popular activities include snorkeling, diving, island hopping, dolphin watching, fishing trips, spa treatments, and cultural island tours. Most can be arranged on request.

Yes. All our properties (guesthouses and resorts) meet strict safety and hygiene standards. Both offer secure, welcoming environments with friendly communities and low crime rates.

What currency do I need?

The Maldivian Rufiyaa (MVR) is the local currency. USD is widely accepted, and ATMs are available on most inhabited islands. Credit cards are accepted at larger establishments.

How far in advance should I book?

We recommend booking 4-8 weeks in advance for better rates and availability, especially during peak season. Last-minute bookings may incur additional charges.

About the Maldives

The Maldives is a tropical archipelago in the Indian Ocean, consisting of 1,190 coral islands spread across an area of 26,000 square kilometers. Despite its size, it is home to just over 540,000 people, most of whom live on the capital island, Malé.

Geography & Climate

The Maldives sits on the equator, offering year-round tropical warmth. The country experiences two distinct seasons: the dry northeast monsoon (November-April) and the wet southwest monsoon (May-October). Average temperatures remain around 28-30°C throughout the year.

Culture & People

Maldivian culture is deeply rooted in Islam, reflected in local customs, cuisine, and daily life. The people are warm, welcoming, and proud of their heritage. Traditional fishing remains important, though tourism now drives the economy. Local Dhivehi is the native language, though English is widely spoken in tourism areas.

Marine Life & Biodiversity

The Maldives is a paradise for marine enthusiasts. Coral reefs teem with colorful fish, sea turtles, rays, and reef sharks. The warm waters host whale sharks (June-November) and manta rays. Diving and snorkeling are world-class, with over 80 dive sites.

History

The Maldives has a rich maritime history, once a major trade hub between Arabia, India, and Southeast Asia. It was a sultanate for centuries before becoming a British protectorate, then gaining independence in 1965. Today, it is a democratic republic and a top tourist destination.

Getting Around

Boats and speedboats are the primary transport between islands. Domestic flights connect distant atolls. On inhabited islands, walking or local ferries are common. The country has no roads between islands.
